CHILDREN'S MINDFULNESS SERIES
Welcome to the new blog site!
I will post occasional items that provide opportunities for fostering children's mindfulness. Let me first state that it is often the reverse - that it is children who foster our mindfulness, that is, paying attention to the moment. For example:
A beautifully poetic way to encourage living in the moment!
— WORD FOR THE DAY —
Praying. It doesn’t have to be the blue iris, it could be weeds in a vacant lot, or a few small stones; just pay attention, then patch a few words together and don’t try to make them elaborate, this isn’t a contest but the doorway into thanks, and a silence in which another voice may speak.
We can teach children - or they usually teach us - this practice, as we walk with them along the path. How often might they stop to focus on a bug or a critter in the grass, and draw our attention away from our distractions!
This reminds me of visit to the petroglyphs near Chacala when a 7-year old boy stopped to examine everything, like a natural explorer, and put a cricket on his cheek!
